Finale Participation

Finale Participation

Once again, we will have a final number at the recital! Miss Hannah is so excited to choreograph a number. This dance will be created for any style dancer at any level; it is meant to be a fun dance to end the show, so it will not be super technical.

  • More details to come!
  • Any dancer 5 and up can participate.
  • There will be a fee for the rehearsals - due before April 4th.
  • There will be two mandatory rehearsals to learn the choreography (both rehearsals are required) Rehearsal dates and times will be announced before registration.
  • Dress rehearsal - we ask dancers to arrive at the high school at 2 pm on May 3rd to practice on stage before the doors open to the audience. This is 30 minutes prior to the normal arrival time.
  • No special costume for this number; dancers will wear the costume they finish in during the show.

Dress Rehearsal Information

Dress Rehearsal

Here at Crave Dance, dress and technical rehearsal is a super important part of preparing for our recital. This is where we get to see the costumes working on stage. It gives us a chance to make any adjustments.

Even more importantly, it gives the stars of our show a chance to get up and rehearse on the big stage – a very different environment than they are used to within the studio walls. They can overcome some of the jitters that may hit when the bright lights come on and prepare themselves for the show ahead. This year our class photos will also be taken during their dress rehearsal timeslot!

📍
Location: Dress rehearsal will be held at the Decorah High School Auditorium on May 3rd. Each class will have approximately 15 minutes on the stage and 15 minutes for class photos. Please expect to be at rehearsal for around 45 minutes per class.
🎭
Dress Code: Students should arrive in costume and, if needed, bring extra costumes for later rehearsal times. Don’t forget their dance shoes and accessories!
👨‍👩‍👧
Supervision: Dancers must be supervised throughout the duration of rehearsal by a parent or guardian.
Arrival Time: Please arrive ten minutes prior to the scheduled rehearsal time to allow dancers time to get ready. Arriving in costume is essential as rehearsals run tightly on time.

Class Photos Information

Class Photos

We will be taking class photos in costume before or after your child's dress rehearsal time. Pictures will take around 15 minutes in total, so please plan accordingly.

Hair and make-up are not required for photos unless you would like to do it; however, pulling hair back out of the dancer's face is helpful.

Class photos will be taken in the high school cafeteria.

Costumes Information

Costumes

All costumes will be fit in class by our instructors. Minor alterations will be taken care of by the studio at no additional cost.

You will receive your costume steamed and ready to wear in a zippered garment bag with all accessories and tights (if needed). If your child already has the correct color tights, please make sure they do not have any holes.

Once the costume has been sent home, you are responsible for the loss of any accessories, tights, or the costume itself. Please keep it in a safe spot and do not wear it for dress-up or other purposes until after all performances are complete!

Caring for your Costumes

Please ensure your child does not wear their costume other than for recital-related events. (After the recital, please feel free to strut around town in it!)

Shoes & Tights

This information can be found on your dancer(s) class-specific info sheet.

Underwear

Underwear is typically not worn under dance costumes, as tights fulfill both hygienic and modesty purposes. If your dancer feels more comfortable, underwear should be skin-colored and must not be visible beneath the costume. Undergarments/modesty liners can also be purchased at discountdance.com.

Please have your child wear recital undergarments to picture day so we can ensure it is appropriate for performance.

Accessories and Jewelry

Any jewelry or accessories not included with the costume shall not be worn to the recital. No socks (other than for hip hop), corsages, watches, etc. These items will be removed by our backstage staff and returned at the end of the show.

Make-up

If you are comfortable with your dancer wearing some makeup, see the suggestions below. This is not required, but makeup is encouraged because the stage lights can wash out a dancer's face, and it will show that way on video.

  • Eyes: Mascara, eyeliner, white or light pink eyeshadow in the corner, and brown eyeshadow on the outer corners, or just one of these colors. Avoid bright colors like blue or purple.
  • Face: Foundation and pink blush (not necessary to overapply).
  • Lips: Berry or pink lipstick. Avoid red.

Hair

Hair requirements are listed on your dancer(s) class-specific information sheet. Please ensure your dancer’s hair is styled according to the instructions provided.
